Current Work Plan
Each year the Buzzards Bay NEP prepares a one-year work plan on its proposed activities. Below is the link to our current work planFederal FY08 Work Plan Tasks (139 kb pdf)
GPRA Reports
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is required to conform to the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA), and measure the performance or progress toward the agency's goals. EPA adopted the following goal and objective for National Estuary Programs, including the Buzzards Bay Project:Goal #2:Clean and Safe Water
Objective #2 under that goal is as follows: By 2005, conserve and enhance the ecological health of the nation's (state, interstate and tribal) waters and aquatic ecosystems - - rivers and streams, lakes, wetlands, estuaries, coastal areas, oceans and groundwaters - - so that 75% of waters support healthy aquatic communities.
Sub-objective 2.1
By 2005, restore and protect watersheds so that 75% of waters support healthy watersheds as shown by comprehensive assessment of the nation's watersheds. One of EPA's Annual Planning Goals is to restore and protect estuaries through the implementation of Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plans. Success in meeting this Annual Planning Goal is measured through Annual Planning Measures.
To conform to GPRA, the measures adopted by the EPA in 2001 were:
- the number of priority actions initiated across the NEP, and
- the acres of habitat protected and restored.
With respect to the habitat measure, NEPs have been asked to report those acres protected or restored during the reporting period. The information is included in each NEP's GPRA reports.

After 2004, paper report submission to EPA was replaced by an online reporting mechanism, called the National Estuary Program On-Line Reporting Tool (visit the NEPORT website).

Note that these projects are those where the BBNEP had some level of either financial or technical support. In general the municipalities, area lands trusts, or the Buzzards Bay Coalition was the lead on the effort. The map shows the location of the efforts, and and Goggle Earth KML file has more details on each project. The points are the geographic center of the parcel, and not the precise location of any restoration activity.

EPA Headquarters Implementation Review Performance
Roughly every two to four years, the Washington DC offices of the US EPA conducts a review of the performance of each National Estuary Program in their efforts to implement the recommendations in the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan.BBNEP's 1997 Implementation Review submission (a 250 kb pdf file).
